WATER

Water grounds me
water in this cup
water for which
the ground begs

Water drowns me
Discovery collides
with the familiar
and boils down to why

sky will have a big cry soon
Come slow dance
with me in the rain
to a song on the radio

I’ve never heard before
We’ll get wet
and float on the new river clear
out to the Great Ocean

There they hammer songs
and change my mind
It has to be
has to be this

has to be this way
Extract the decay
reveal a flowing voice
of how little sustains me

how long I thirst
in a raft on a creek bend
blinded by a descent of light
reminded I never learned to swim

IMAGINE WARS

Why imagine wars and pestilences?
I dream of flying on a cloud
to a home for which I've waited
2,000 years to live in.

I can't imagine the end
any more than you, sir.
No, can't imagine.
I see the beginning that follows.

None of us go early
all when we're supposed to.
We're here to complete a mission.
Maybe we complete it.

Maybe our host bodies
aren't strong enough for the ride.
There's not enough ceremony in the world
not enough connection

with the Source of our existence
Who is the Only True Existence.
Name it what you want
connect to it in the tradition that fits.

As long as we don't try
to shove what we believe
up each other's asses
everything will be just fine.

EXTREMITY

You talk to me
in so many wordless voices
but still I can hear
with my every ear
all the places You are

Shoot me up
Shoot me down
Dry my tears
Swing me ‘round
to the sweet sting of Your song

I feel Your music scream
as it merges with my blood
on its course through my veins

Your needle gleams
with the promise
of another syringe
full of that medicinal
